...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 AM CST THIS MORNING... * WHAT...Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...Southern and Eastern Dallas County * WHEN...Until 700 AM CST. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This will likely cause urban and small stream flooding. Low lying and/or poor drainage areas will experience minor flooding in the advisory area. Between 0.5 and 1.2 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.2 to 1 inch are forecast. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Dallas, Garland, Grand Prairie, Mesquite, Rowlett, Desoto, Cedar Hill, Duncanville, Lancaster, Balch Springs, Seagoville, Glenn Heights, Highland Park, Hutchins, Cockrell Hill, Sunnyvale, Wilmer, Ovilla, Ferris and Combine. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. At 438 AM CST, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 3 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are forecast. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Radar and automated gauges. IMPACT...Flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets, and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low lying areas.
